Festa dei folli
Performing arts festival
A crazy festival of the performing arts that brings the village to life with street theatre, contemporary circus, live music, as well as street games, craft markets and creative workshops. A wealth of unique, original attractions come together in a varied programme designed both for children and for those who have never stopped being young at heart. A highlight not to be missed is the Crazy Run, a mad dash full of colour and smiles. There’s room for local food and wine too.

Contesa del Pozzo della Polenta
The oldest historical reenactment in the Province of Ancona
The flagship event of Corinaldo’s summer, now past its 40th edition. On the third weekend of July the town returns to the ancient splendour of 1517, brought to life by costumed performers, flag-wavers, musicians and historical groups from all over Italy. Throughout the event there are variety shows, archery contests and ancient games, the dropping of the sack of flour into the well, and the contest of the Palio dei Rioni (the districts’ race). The winning district earns the honour of playing the Duke and Duchess in the following year’s edition.

Corinaldo Jazz
In summer Corinaldo becomes a small capital of jazz with the Corinaldo Jazz festival, which hosts some of the most prestigious ensembles on the national and international scene. The village walls become a treasure chest for the most refined and innovative sounds. The concerts take place in the great Piazza il Terreno and draw crowds of enthusiasts and curious visitors from across the Marche and beyond. After the concerts come lively jam sessions for musicians and jazz lovers. The festival, held in early August and organised by the Round Jazz association, has over the years hosted great artists including Enrico Rava, Roberto Gatto, Peter Erskine, Fabrizio Bosso, Scott Henderson, Uri Caine and Paolo Fresu, among others.

Millenarja
Scenes of medieval life
On the last weekend of August, Corinaldo travels back to the Middle Ages with Millenarja. The beautifully preserved village welcomes acrobats, archers, flag-bearers, musicians and shows, as well as inns, taverns and markets. The performances draw on the themes of the era, with choreographed flag displays, drum interludes, rousing music, pyro-theatrical effects and staged storytelling. A blend of entertainment and medieval reenactment, organised by the Gruppo Tamburi e Sbandieratori Araba Fenice.

The witches’ festival
The first event of its kind in Italy, now past its twentieth edition and, by number of visitors, among the largest in the Marche region. Taverns serving typical dishes, variety shows, a tunnel of horror and plenty of themed entertainment, set against an atmosphere lit by torches and countless pumpkins, carry visitors into a magical, fantastical world. During the event, Miss Strega (Miss Witch) is crowned — not the ugliest, of course, but the most beautiful witch of the third millennium.

Il gran natale di Corinaldo
In Corinaldo, Christmas is not to be missed: over a month of festivities and gatherings, with something for all ages. The historic centre is transformed, clothed in light with the great tree, the illuminations and the enchanting decorations. The now traditional opening on the feast of the Immaculate Conception, 8 December, sets off the events that every Sunday until Christmas fill the streets and squares with roving shows, music, creative workshops and the distinctive Christmas Market. A long carousel of events that comes to a close with the eagerly awaited Epiphany celebration. Christmas in Corinaldo brings together emotion, tradition and the ancient beauty of a village that never fails to surprise.
